Drink Local Beer and Boost Maryland’s Economy!

With Memorial Day weekend kicking off the unofficial start of summer, many of us celebrated with a cold beer in hand. Summer is big business for Maryland’s beer industry, and according to a newly released report, beer is a huge driver of the state’s economy!

The new economic impact study shows that America’s beer industry contributes more than $4.3 billion annually to Maryland’s economy and supports 31,351 jobs in the state. Specifically, in 2016, brewers supported 498 jobs, wholesalers supported 1,936 jobs, and retailers supported 14,860 jobs in Maryland. Wholesalers supported four times as many Maryland jobs as brewers.

The good news doesn’t end there. For more information on the study, including information on jobs and beer’s impact on other sectors, visit www.beerservesamerica.org.
